2004-04-28 - 9:46 a.m. Current Song: Pullin Me In, Wyclef Jean I self-diagnosed myself with Temporary Narcolepsy this morning. The reason-being, I was heading down the five flights of stairs that separates my office from the Mecca of vending machines in the basement. About 3 stories down, my eyes began to close... 45 seconds later, the sound of a slamming door a floor above me brought me back to the world of the 9-5. I was leaning against the wall, still standing on the steps in mid-flight. That's just plain fucked up. It's not a sleep issue. I'm getting like 7 hours of sleep each night, which should be plenty giving my history of going without sleep for long periods. Current Song: Wonderwall, Ryan Adams The cloud in my mind is growing. Kinda like that scene in Ghostbusters where Dana decides to be the GateKeeper and the clouds start swirling over her apartment building... Nevermind. So I guess I'll go back to sitting in this god-forsaken cube for a little while longer, letting my fingers drag over the keys while my mind wanders aimlessly for another few hours or so. Hmmm, we get paid tomorrow. Funny how I used to get-off at the thought of a paycheck. Money don't get everything it's true... Current Song: La Mer, Nine Inch Nails. Must motivate. Woke up this morning, mouth had a stale taste trapped inside it, looked into the mirror, saw wrinkles, receding hairline, black rings under eyes, couple of pimples forming, uneven scruffy shave...did not like it. Not even the normal rejuvenating feel of the first 5 seconds of chilly shower water could shake the funk free from me. Got dressed in the half-glow of sunrise through closed shades, stumbled around looking for clothes and watch. Resisted urge to pick up phone and call in sick. Thought of people and things I need to feel close to. Gathered keys, drove the walking distance between home and work. Here I am. Current Song: Bodies, Smashing Pumpkins Alright onto the greatest song list: Songs in the Guestbook Beth says Reason by Hoobastank. I'm sorry Beth, but not only do I hate this song, I'd rather be curbed (See American History X for an example of "curbing") then put this song on the list. You're other choices were great, don't let this one slip in judgment steer you away from tracking down other awesome songs. Megan declares that Sunday Morning by Maroon 5, We've Been Had by The Walkmen, Night and Day by Frank Sinatra, and Closer by NIN are worthy choices. I say thee nay to Sunday Morning and We've Been Had, but I totally agree with Night and Day and Closer. Maroon 5 is good...but I don't think they've written a "Greatest Song." As for The Walkmen, I also love them..but again I think they haven't written a magical "Greatest Song." Good stuff though.
