Going to Gerogia ~ The Mountain Goats

The weather is taking that annual nosedive descent into snot freezing territory. Last night I was staring out of my bay window contemplating my gorgeous icicle lights and the soft white glow coming off of my house as compared to the patchwork throw-up of colors on the houses across the street --- (cont'd below)

Veronica ~ Elvis Costello

Sidenote: I, for one, am a fan of the simple white light display (this is of course barring last year's Griswold debacle which was fueled by a little bit of booze and the wild ambition of 4 young men sharing the same home) Anywho, yeah white lights, simply arranged are the best Christmas displays. The young tyke in me would argue that colorful lights are neato...but the post pubescent David has come to the conclusion that white lights, and only white lights are sweet.

--- so I'm gazing out the window checking out the soft glow of the lights reflecting off of the glass when I notice the first fleck of white lazily drift from a black as ink backdrop and come to rest on the bushes in front of the window. As it melts away slowly, like a Sunday morning dream, it's joined by another, then another... tiny snowflakes swirling out of the sky and collaborating to form a Hallmark moment, a silent salute from the earthly mother to christen the new place.

Young Pilgrims ~ The Shins

Reaching down and to the right, I switched off the TV. For the next five minutes or so I gave the mental magic 8 ball a shake and offered up my mind to the "what might be's" of my not so distant future. Dinner parties, late night dates, fireplace facade conversations, saturdays spent sleeping in...

The snow kept falling and I eventually retreated to the couch to switch on the TV and write thank you notes.
